Billie Jean is a european artist.
Born in the '80s. he began to make his works known on the walls of different locations throughout the world. His pseudonym is inspired by a famous song of Michael Jackson (1983): "I wanted a pop-name, that could immediately enter in the head, representing fully the culture and spirit of the era in which we live". His art-works belong to Pop Art, dealing with diff erent issues, particularly social issues. In his works transpires the intention to bring art back to the level of political accusation, against persecution and dictatorial regimes. In 2012, he drew a portrait of Bradley Manning, suing the treatment of hard prison of the soldier who is alleged to provide the site WikiLeaks thousands of secret files of the U.S. defense. The main characteristic of the works of Billie Jean is the clean, bare style just black and white. His works reflect tragedies and discomforts of society, through the simple sketch of the eyes. As he himself said, his artistic influences lie in pop art of the 80s (Warhol, Basquiat, Keith Haring) and in contemporary street art (such the British artist Banksy). |
